Terms of use
Effective from 30 October 2026
This is a translation of the Slovenian original. If the two versions differ, the Slovenian version applies.
By downloading or using the Sidestep app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, don’t use the app.
Provider
The Sidestep app is provided by Žiga Fidler, Jakopičeva 5a, 1230 Domžale, Slovenia (“we”). Contact: hello@sidestep.page.
What Sidestep is
Sidestep is an app that shows the web versions of Instagram and YouTube without some parts (Reels, Shorts, Explore, suggestions) and, if you want, TikTok messages. Sidestep is not affiliated with Meta, Google or TikTok, and is not endorsed by them. Instagram, YouTube and TikTok are trademarks of their respective owners.
Your Instagram, YouTube and TikTok accounts
The terms of use of these services still apply. You’re responsible for your accounts there. Sidestep doesn’t hide ads or change traffic, but we can’t guarantee how Meta, Google or TikTok will treat accounts that use apps like this one.
Price
Sidestep is free for now, and all features are available to everyone. If a paid subscription is ever offered, we’ll publish its terms here before introducing it.
Permitted use
You may not modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, or use it to abuse other services, break the law or infringe the rights of others. Sidestep and its content (name, logo, design, text) belong to us. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use the app on your Apple devices in line with these terms and the App Store rules.
No warranty (“as is”)
Sidestep is provided as is and as available. To the extent permitted by law, we give no express or implied warranties, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that the app will always hide all short videos. Sidestep shows Instagram, YouTube and TikTok pages that we don’t control: when these services change them, a feature may stop working for a while. We’ll do our best to fix it as soon as possible.
Sidestep is a tool for your own self-control, not a medical or therapeutic device.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential damage, lost profits, loss of data, or damage caused by Meta, Google, TikTok or other third parties, including the restriction or closure of your account with these services. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, or to €50 if you paid nothing.
These limits don’t apply to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, to damage from death or personal injury, or where they would conflict with mandatory consumer rights.
Indemnification
If you use the app in breach of these terms or the law, and a third party claims damages from us because of it, you’ll reimburse us for the damage and reasonable costs we incur as a result. This applies to the extent permitted by law, and only where the breach was your fault.
Termination
You can stop using Sidestep at any time: delete your account under Settings › Account › Delete account and remove the app. We may suspend or permanently disable your account if you seriously breach these terms or the law. We’ll let you know, unless the law forbids it. We may also discontinue the app or part of it; we’ll tell you at least 30 days in advance so you can delete or keep your data. The provisions on ownership, no warranty, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law continue to apply after termination.
Apple and the App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content, maintenance or support. If the app fails to conform to any warranty that applies by law, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund any purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for claims relating to the app (product liability, regulatory compliance, consumer protection, intellectual property infringement). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also comply with the App Store terms and any third-party terms that apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when we add features or when laws change. The new version will be posted on this page with a new date. We’ll tell you about bigger changes in the app at least 14 days in advance. If you keep using the app, you agree to the changes; if you don’t, you can delete your account at any time.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Slovenia, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes fall under the competent court in Ljubljana. If you’re a consumer, you keep the mandatory rights of the law of the country where you live, and you can also sue us in a court of that country. Before starting a dispute, write to us at hello@sidestep.page; we can solve most problems quickly.
Other
If any provision turns out to be invalid, the other provisions remain in force. If we don’t enforce a right right away, we don’t waive it.
